Regarding the use of POST and page design (buttons vs. links),
it should be possible to use Javascript to do POST operations with a
link:
function clickSubmit(){
document.forms[x].submit();
}
...
<FORM METHOD=POST ACTION="blah/blah/blah">
blah
blah
blah
<a href="Javascript:clickSubmit()">link text here</a>
blah
blah
blah
</FORM>
Following the link should then submit the form.
