xterm -title `perl -e 'print "A" x 9000'` on my system does not crash X,
but rather uses 100% CPU and starts the xterm. I'm using X 4.1.0 and
blackbox window manager. Top reveals that the window manager consumes
all available CPU. X slows to an unusable crawl, but console are still
responsive.
