In continuing to investigate the Office 97 vulnerability that was reported
yesterday, we have determined that upgrading to MDAC 2.1 may not be
appropriate for all customers, as it installs a number of other components
that could cause compatibility problems. Because of this, Microsoft is
developing a patch that will update the affected ODBC drivers without
necessitating an upgrade to MDAC 2.1. This will be the recommended solution
for all Office 97 customers, and will be available shortly at
http://www.microsoft.com/security. Regards,
