testing update

Dear Group: Things are somewhat ambiguous at the moment. There are
definitely some problems with the GMA2 database, as you have probably
noticed if you've looked at it. Something like 748,000 cataloged
items are listed as "UNCAT"; and many items which are available are
listed as "NOT AVAILABLE." These are the most glaring things that we
discussed yesterday in our Test Coordinator's meeting. Also, when
trying to check out a book, we're getting a message that the calendar
isn't set up. I checked with Grant on this; he is looking into what
needs to be done to restore the calendars. (Just got word that all
the calendar data may have to be entered all over again.)
All of this makes testing, with those test forms we sent out, somewhat
problematic -- or rather, pointless -- at this time. My judgement
call right now is that we should hold off on doing the test forms, and
just look at the migrated data (i.e., did items in a given
location/material type migrate to the correct
sublocation/collection/call prefix, with the correct circ code).
Grant will provide to me some reports to use in looking at the data,
and Anne and I will take a look-see. Once I have a sense that the
system is operating properly (with regard to calendars and tables), we
can get out the test forms. I think that to do these transactions
right now would just yield bad results.
