I'll be distributing a bunch of test forms today. As we can see from
this morning's e-mail, it looks as if the database won't be available
until tomorrow. Yikes.
When doing these test transactions
-please try not to leave any transactions or fines hanging, since
we're using real migrated patron records for the P-card and BLC patron
testing;
-use CD to input phony dates in order to create fines;
-there will be some "check-in at wrong location; check-in again at
correct location" tests. So let's try to help each other out on these
as quickly as possible. You may get calls from your circ colleagues
in other locations asking you to log in and check-in a given barcode
number.
-The testing period seems to be getting more and more compressed! At
this point I don't know for sure just what our real deadline is. If
the database isn't available to us until tomorrow (Wed.), it's my own
personal view that we need to extend the testing period. BUT I don't
make these decisions, so let's try to do the tests this week, or at
least ASAP. As far as I know, the New System Steering Committee
is still scheduled to meet with the test coordinators group this
Monday to make a decision based on how the GMA looks and how the
system is functioning. I don't know if that meeting will get
rescheduled for later.
Please feel free to add anything which you feel is relevant in terms
of "testing guidelines."
Thanks everyone. -AP
