Here's the latest version of the guide intended for staff OPAC
training. Webify or do what you will. I will report changes to you
as they occur (e.g., different search methods or help, etc.).
Among the small revisions: introductory tips more like those for
patrons; facsimiles of Additional/Boolean/Thesis screens after the
examples that belong with the main menu. Thanks, 3m

BOOLEAN SEARCHING
The boolean operators--and, or, not--can be used to combine more than
one search element in KEYWORD searches:
Author Keyword aw= Series Keyword sew=
Title Keyword tw= Notes Keyword nw=
Subject Keyword sw= All Words w=
You can specify the order of operations by using parentheses.
Examples:
(aw=smith or aw=jones) and sw=physics
Retrieves items written by either Smith or Jones on physics.
w=york not w=new
Retrieves items containing the term "york" but not "new"
(eliminates items about new york).
sw=international trade
Words are in same heading; search result is heading list.
sw=international and sw=trade
Words may be in different headings; result is title list.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THESIS SEARCHING
Use the nw= search. Tyupe the word thesis and all of some of the
following: department, year, title keyword(s), advisor. Combine this
with an aw= search.
Examples:
nw=thesis sloan and aw=baker
Retrieves Slosn School theses by author Baker as first,
middle, or last name.
nw=thesis biology henry 1990
Retrieves 1990 biology theses supervised by Henry as first,
