This note is intended for those of you planning to CONDUCT training during
the time between June 7 and when we go live on Advance...
I've just had a conversation with Grant to confirm that we will NOT have
Advance available to us for most training purposes during this period.
That's the bad news, now let me temper it a bit...
June 7 is a bit of an arbitrary date. It may turn out that the system is
available to us for a day or two more than this. It may even be briefly
available again on the 12th or 13th. I just would not PLAN on having the
system available for training beyond the 7th. I don't plan to have any
open lab hours that week, for instance.
After our real data is installed, probably the week of June 12, the system
may be available for some limited training. If we do conduct training
after the real data is installed but before we go live we will have to
make VERY certain that we don't change the data on Advance. We might edit
without filing changes, for instance. But this can be a risky proposition,
so don't count on it without a conversation with Grant or I.
Finally, if you have training scheduled after June 7, please call me before
you get too worried. My number is 3-0633 and my email is <efc@mit.edu>.
We'll work something out.
Have a great weekend!
...Eric
