We will now begin the Second (and Final) GMA.

Monday morning, a series of dizzying processes will begin.

1. We will pull the first set of data for Geac to begin migrating to
Advance. All of the onlines except for the OPAC, GEM, and Soft Backup
will be down while this occurs. With luck we should have it done by
9:30 or so.

2. Soft Backup will be tested. Circ desks should keep track of the
materials they check in or check out or renew during the test. When
Circulation comes back up and we've run the Soft Backup transactions
back into the database we'd like you to check and make sure the
appropriate transactions were recorded in Circulation.

3. We will run the last Marcive tape.

Tuesday afternoon, probably about 3:30 or so, we will be taking emmy
down. Geac needs a backup of the database so they can migrate our data
correctly. Everything we do to Advance after this point will need to be
re-done when we get the GMA back from Geac. I will be locking down
virtually all of the code tables and anything having to do with
configuration after I've done the backup. This will ensure that all
changes will be routed through me and recorded so that we can re-create
them before we go live. Any bug fixes Geac installs will be also
installed at Geac on our GMA system during the transition.

See you at the All Staff Meeting in Killian Hall Monday at 2PM. Bring
your questions.
