Sarah talked to Michel Ridgeway today. I had mentioned the fact that
series volume numbering wasn't working, and she passed that on to
Michel. He said to try changing the volume numbering and refiling,
then seeing if it was indexed. I did this, and it works. Why didn't
it work after filing records into the workfile and then re-filing into
the main database? Who knows? Go figure. Anyway, we'll have to make
sure this works after the 2nd GMA. (We knew that anyway, didn't we?)

I decided to try this principle (i.e., if a specific field of a
designated B.Index test record isn't indexed properly after refiling
from workfile to main d/b, try editing that specific field, then
filing again) that works so wonderfully with series volume numbers
with some of the other things that didn't seem to be working, which
you don't know about because I haven't finished my full report yet,
and the principle works there as well. So there aren't even as many
problems as I first thought there were!

After the B.Index changes are finalized, here's what I plan to do:

--submit a FAQ thing to Gordon for:

	--searching series by volume number

--redo the list of which fields are retrieved by each type of search
(currently residing on the Advance web page)

--get on with the rest of my Advance life and leave the B.Index behind
me (until after the 2nd GMA!)

even so,
Sam
