Liz, Darcy,
Brief records are high on the list of issues to be resolved.
At this point, I don't have an answer for you about what we will do
during the interim period May 15-June 15 when we can't add new brief
records to GLIS and before we go live with Advance. Brief records are
on the agenda for our meeting this week with Michel Ridgeway.
John Hagood seems to think that all of the February theses have been
keyed in. Is that correct? When do you start getting the theses for
the June graduates? What is the impact on your operation if you
can't start keying in brief records for the June theses until the
latter part of that month? I realize this has ramifications for
Document Services as well.
There are two training sessions this week on the Advance cataloging
module. I've checked with Eric and there is room in either session for
Darcy. One is tomorrow, Tuesday, at 9:30 and the other is Wednesday at 3:30.
Both are being held in the Libraries' training room next to Document
Services. These are general sessions that give an overview of the Geac
cataloging module and its editing features. Alternatively, we could
provide Darcy a separate training session on only brief record creation
closer to the date when we come live on Advance.

Hi-
I notice on the GEAC timetable that we will shortly stop entering
records into the old system. Darcy is currently entering brief
records for all theses. How does this fit into the new scheme of
things? After discussing this between ourselves we realized we needed
further guidance.
