Kate Gyllensvard of our processing staff has made two very good
suggestions about the Advance screen designs. One suggestion is that
the display screens should provide some message that indicates that
typing the first letter of any option-line choice brings you to that
option. As she rightly points out, without this information imparted to
users elsewhere, like through us via training, users will tend to assume
that only arrow keys will perform this function.
Secondly, Kate suggests that the display screens are confusing because
both the Option and the Option help message are highlighted. I also
found this very confusing when I first looked at Advance. Perhaps we
should change this (if it's possible) so that only the option is
highlighted.
I am also wondering what we should do about changing wording of the
option lines. For instance, changing "#item" to "item#" as we had
discussed. We tabled this temporarily because Grant said this would
change the option across all modules. Should we be investigating
whether the other module folks would also find any rewordings helpful?
What do you think?
