At BOG last week, we came up with a TENTATIVE rough schedule for the
transition to Advance. The date we're looking at for transfer of Circ
data (and also Acq. data) is May 30. The 3-day Memorial Day weekend
would be used to prepare the data.
During the interim period between sending off the circ transactions to
be loaded into the new system, and actually bringing up the new
system, we would be doing circulation on "Advance Circ Backup." I'll
get the specifics on that.
I think we should make sure that by the first week in May, all circ staff are
being trained on the new system.
In a message to BOG earlier today, Grant posed the question "Will we
be able to process all the returned books by end-of-day of Friday, May
26?" Although I don't know how heavy the book-return traffic will be
on that day, my feeling is that we'll do what's necessary. (I
volunteer to help discharge books that day...) -AP
