I thought it might be worth while explaining Grant's response to bug
#31 in terms we public service types are more likely to understand.

Using Advance, if you do an author search, aw=puccini, giacomo, the
resulting list of hits begins with two entries

Puccini, Giacomo, 1858-1924.

Obviously, there should only be one, and this is an authorities
cleanup issues.

Next, there is a whole list of things like

9. Puccini, Giacomo, 1858-1924. Boheme
   1
  10. Puccini, Giacomo, 1858-1924. Boheme. Che gelida manina. [sound
      1
      recording] 1950
  11. Puccini, Giacomo, 1858-1924. Boheme. Italian
      1
  12. Puccini, Giacomo, 1858-1924. Boheme. Libretto. English & Italian
      2

(Sorry about the scrambled spacing, but you get the idea -- a listing
of his name, followed by titles of his works.) These are in fact 7xx
added entries -- in other words, works for which these items are added
entries. The ones which just show up under his name are the ones for
which he is the main entry. In fact the CD you were looking for is
there, just where it should be, and you'll find it if you select the
very first item for Puccini. If you do this search on oldBarton, I
believe you'll see pretty similar stuff. This is a classic complaint
about music materials in OPACs.

So it's my opinion that this is yet another one of those items which,
in Eric's sage words, bugs us but is not itself a bug. Authorities
control will improve some of it, and the rest will be a matter of
training.

Good luck to us!!

Nina
