This isn't the answer to the problem, but, rather, MR's e-mail to the
programmer defining the problem. It still isn't clear that all of the
phantom holdings are coming from Geac's attempt to create holdings
from our 949 field.

The MIT holdings problem may be related to the Acq transfer, rather
than the 949 (although I did see extra PIECES created earlier, but
neglected to write them down, although I think it will be sufficient
to specify that the final conversion ignore all 949 data in piece
creation).
A problem record: 10646247 (was PIECE with not loc created by the acq
transfer?)
LCNs 10600100 10600150 106224 contain 949s but did not create extra
pieces possibly because barcodes matched?
