I've been reading through the Advance Users' Group enhancements and
would like to follow up on one that dealt with
the electronic transfer of records from OCLC. I am particularly
concerned about the problem statement in no. 249 which was submitted
by San Francisco State University. They state that when the final
OCLC edited record is interfaced into ADVANCE at time of cataloging,
it correctly matches the acquis. bib record, BUT the piece level data
in the OCLC 949 does NOT automatically overwrite and delete the
acquisitions holding because the 'in process' status is attached to it
and ADVANCE is programmed never to delete an item with a status
attached.
IS THIS TRUE? Is there something we can do to get around this problem?
