Dear Techwhirlers,
So much has happened in the last year, including the closure of the STC and
vast social and economic changes wrought by A.I. It’s more than a little
scary, but it’s also a time where innovation and change can create great
new opportunities.
Al and I are grateful for our nearly 15 years hosting and managing
TechWhirl, but like so many others, we’ve come to a fork in our
professional road. Our interests and career paths are taking us in new
directions, which leave us with little time to curate the tech comm content
you’ve enjoyed over the years. We want to leave the TechWhirl legacy, and
the remarkable opportunity it represents, in the hands of those who are
passionate about tech comm and content, and excited about what the future
could bring. So we’re starting our search with our remarkable contributors
and network on this TechWhirl list.
We say opportunity because we see that the future of tech comm is closely
allied to technological change brought by A.I. And we see that the hole
left by the end of STC is one that could be filled by folks like you.
TechWhirl includes an amazing amount of knowledge and experience shared by
Whirlers over the last 30 years on the list, and a sizable amount of
foundational content that crosses the lines between tech comm, content
strategy, instructional design and customer experience. Content that
frankly could use a refresh, and the addition of new content that covers
what’s happening across these areas. TechWhirl has huge potential for
anyone wanting to try their hand at niche podcasting, producing multimedia
content that appeals to newcomers and old pros alike, and managing content
platforms.
When we purchased TechWhirl from the founders, Eric and Deb Ray, we could
never have foreseen all the ways that it would change our professional and
personal lives. We want that kind of positive experience for a new crew of
folks who can take TechWhirl into its fourth decade with new energy and
desire to share knowledge.
We invite you to reach out to us if you want to learn more, and see the
potential to grow TechWhirl. Talk with your friends in the profession–it
can be a remarkable partnership that will take you in new directions, as it
has for us both.
Thanks!
Connie <connie@inktopia.net> and Al <almartine@inktopia.net>, co-owners of
TechWhirl
