Is FlexJobs better than the other freelance job boards? Most of them want a lot of work for ridiculously low pay, and there are hundreds of applicants for each assignment.
My experience is network, network, network. And make sure you have a thorough, well-written LinkedIn profile with a quality photo.
You might also consider joining the Editorial Freelancers Association (https://www.the-efa.org/) and join the email discussion group. Lots of experienced, helpful people there who are happy to be of assistance.
