=================================a solution=================

This is what the Packetteer folks told me to do.
You can alos visist their web site and look at the FAQs.

There is a bug regarding the "out or application specific resources"
error(in my opinion).
Instead of re-booting you can delete Inbound or Outbound "DiscoveredPorts"
Make sure when you delete this class you choose the option "delete+children"
Don't worry because they will all come back if you have 'discovery on'.
This just allows you to free up resources.
You are running out of available classes. You can also delete some of you
ports(discovered) that have no activity or hits.
This will also free up a class or tow of course. Remember they will come
back so create your class quickly or you will be out of resources again.

  Hi Darrin,
We upgraded to 5.2.0 on our 4500 box during Christmas break (I think that
was the time frame). I haven't experienced any problems with the release
except that it seems to have a memory leak. I'm running a rule to block the
Nimda worm and after a couple of weeks, I get messages "out or application
specific resources" or some such message. The work around for this
particular problem is to reboot the box, but I don't like to do that during
the day.

I reported the problem to Packeteer and they said that they knew about the
issue. I got an advance copy of 5.2.1 that will be in general release very
soon. I haven't installed it yet, because we're still running OK on 5.2.0,
but intend to install it next Friday afternoon.

PS: Have you checked your WAN settings to ensure that your circuit
capacities are correct?

get things running acceptably again. Prior updates have generally gone
smooth, but this one has been a real headache.

Symptoms: May show standard traffic volumes/patterns but in reality the
Internet connections stink. Or it just throttles traffic back so bad that
the connection is useless. Once I turn off shaping, things get speedy.
When I go back to the previous version, all with same traffic tree, things
go back to normal.

Has anyone out there, with a 4500 or other model, updated to the
PacketWise v5.2?
    Experiences?
