Like many universities OSU distributes a CD to students with instructions on
how to connect to the internet via modem or ResNet, install site licensed
and network software, and to distribute tutorials and information. Our
current CD auto starts a macromedia front-end menu with links to installers
and PDF documents. We have been asked to make the CD more accessible for
the blind because text in macromedia and PDF files are not readable by voice
readers.
In the past we used an entirely HTML based format, but ran into problems
with all the different browser versions people had on their computers.
We're looking for a browser we could run from the CD (not IE 2) to view the
documents and run setup programs. Any suggestions?
We are also wondering what other universities are doing with their CDs to
make them ADA accessible? Any info you can provide would be helpful.
Thanks,
- Chris White :)
