 Hello Brian,
Your directory information listed that you are living in Baker House.
If that information is correct, you will be able to use the connection
in your room and the AUI network interface of your computer. To use the
connection, you will be loaned a transceiver (which is what you called
an "AUI box") and an AUI cable. This equipment will be available from
the Residential Computing Consultants (RCC's) from your dorm sometime
during the third week in January. The list of RCC's and their dorms can
be found online in TechInfo in Computing in the Resnet folder.
Transceivers are available in single, dual, and quad ports which means
that it is possible to connect up to four machines in one room.
For future reference, if you have questions about residential
computing in your dorm, please send mail to resnet-help@mit.edu or
contact the RCC for your dorm.
  Happy Computing to you!
