Hi! I'd like to put together a panel for the ResNet 2002 Symposium, on
different ways to implement bandwidth management.
Here at Penn, our Networking folks rejected a Packeteer solution, and
instead have worked with Juniper Networks to implement filtering at the
routers -- breaking up the ports into "virtual domains" (currently 16 IP
addresses each) and implementing a filter on each. (Ideally, we will be
able to have several thousand of these virtual domains, with one IP
address in each.)
To complete the panel, I'm looking for:
- A school using Packeteer.
- A school using time-based bandwidth limits (if you go over XX MB in a
week, we cut you off).
- A school using a pay-for-bandwidth approach.
I look forward to hearing from you. The ResNet Symposium wouldn't be
possible without the presentation of experiences from each other.
(And don't forget to submit your proposals for the Emerging Frontiers
theme!) :-)
- Mike L. :-)
