Hi,
We allow summer conferences to connect but offer limited support. Since we
use DHCP and all our jacks are hot it would be added trouble to not allow
the connections. We do not charge for the rooms but if the conference
itself needs equipment or help we charge for that.
There is no established policies attendees have to sign or acknowledge but
leaving their computers open for uploads will get their ports turned off
and the computer camps and such know this and tell their campers.
So far the worst is the sharing issues, which we also deal with during the
school year. Last summer there were 5 cases of computer campers pushing
too much traffic which resulted in their ports being turned off for the
remainder of their stay.
Special disabling, Not enabling used. Network services monitors volume and
checks for sharing if usage is high. Illegal sharing results in ports
being turned off and once we confirm the offender is no longer on campus
they re-enable the ports.
