We have been asked to supply Internet access for the summer conferences =
in residence this year. We have had the odd request in past, but not =
enough to warrant the development of a policy/service outline. There =
has been some hesitancy to allow this type of service because we do =
network infrastructure upgrades and so forth over the summer, and =
service expectations could inhibit our usual maintenance approach. But =
it looks like this is the year when we may just do it...
I am curious to know how other schools are dealing with these requests. =
Any information would be helpful, but with attention to the following:
What do you charge per hook-up? =20
What policies do you put in place if any, other than your standard =
resnet policies?
What security issues have there been if any?
Do you have a special port enabling procedure?
I may have overlooked other fundamental issues, so will look to all of =
you for help. My apologies if this is a redundant issue on the list as =
well.
Thanks so much in advance!
