Lisa,

Here at Binghamton University we now use McAfee AntiVirus. The students are
provided a install package for their machines and it is a condition of use
of the campus network to have anti virus software installed on their
machines. I am not sure how well this is enforced but, at least we are
making an effort to control the worst of the virus problem here.

The faculty and staff are also required to have AntiVirus software. We use
the McAfee Epolicy server software to configure and update their machines
from a local server.

We also run the McAfee E500 appliance on our incoming POP mail server to
slow the incoming storm of virus's from the world.

All of the above has had a dramatic improvement in the number of infected
machines in the last two months.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
I am interested in how other ResNet's handle Viruses. Do any of you give
students Virus Protection software? Update DAT files? Clean systems? etc...
