Hey all,
Seems like the first wave of WindowsXP madness has hit us. We've
received about 10 calls from people with WinXP that are getting a valid
DHCP address however are not getting a gateway from DHCP.
For background here is how our system works:
Student plugs in.
Switch checks mac address against registration DB and if valid puts them
in a Student VLAN where they will get a normal Routable IP they can use
for the net. If they aren't they are put in a regitration vlan where
they will get a non-routable IP address and any dns looksup resolve to
a regitration server where they fillout there info and then an hour
later they are in the registration db and can get a normal IP.
Currently users are getting the non-routable IP but aren't getting a
gateway. Its only on XP machines that this is happening (and not on all
of them mind you). I can't seem to get a hold of a machine with this
problem so I can't give much more information.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Thanks.
