The start date for submitting a presentation proposal is
little more than a month away. How time flies
since we last left Stanford. I would like to
suggest some ideas based on
interesting discussions that have taken
place on the list. These discussion topics could segue nicely
into a presentation, panel discussion or BoF.
Those and other possible topic ideas include:
Work order software comparison/utilization
Imaging of desktops, laptops
Supporting laptop environments
Mac OSX overview
Bandwidth/resource management solutions
Bandwidth management policies
Revisiting computing space
clusters, cyberlounges, cyber cafes, use of open space, impact of wireless
Intrusion detection products and methods
Status of copyright and related issues (DMCA, NetPD so forth)
Partnerships with the academic side of the house
The state of wireless/how is wireless augmenting the student
learning environment
Wireless security and authentication methods
Continuing impact of P2P technologies
Issues in supporting the mixed windows flavor (affect of XP/ME)
How far does your computing support go?
Staff training models
Steps to installing, administrating and securing a linux/unix computer
State of video streaming, video conference
Review of software development tools
Also remember the documentation fair and think of
staff training and student support information you
would be willing to share.
Look for further updates in the near future and have a great holiday season.
