well, if you can tell both your SLIP modems to do it, you win; this
should be possible, perhaps with some hacking. the phone company
doesn't have control of either end, they just control the middle, so
they're not involved here. store-and-forward is a losing model
because then you're not on the net all the time. if you're at work
and need to rlogin to home to get or do stuff, or if you are running
mailing lists or ftp service, you lose. i can dial up with a terminal
if all i want to do is work from home.
