Here at SUNY Geneseo we are using a combination of Ghost, PCRDist, and
DeepFreeze to image and lock down our lab machines. However, with the
ever changing world of Microsoft and their spam of Operating Systems
we have not come up with a good method of imaging and locking down our
labs. Currently we are looking for a solution of imaging a lab of XP
machines.
Other questions I have are what do you do about user profiles if
roaming profiles are not an option? DeepFreeze takes care of this
problem of overloading a HD with profiles but is only running a beta
version for 2k and hasn't even offered anything for XP yet.
Also, w/o PCRDist to push out image changes we haven't found a time
efficient method of updating our images. We are looking into Ghost
Multi-casting if anyone has information on how this working for them
it would also be helpful.
