the phone company thinks it has complete control of the uses of its
lines. it has tried to introduce extra tolls for modem usage, and even
tried to charge hoobiest bbs sysops commercial rates on their lines.
i think legally you are supposed to report all types of modem to the
phone company (except accoustic of course) since the modem could cause
trouble on the line (yeah right.. lets get at least into the 80s if not
90s...)
problem with modems and switch concerns? what is a switch concern? i
understand the problem with modem numbers, but a lot of people just
limit via some kind of idle timeout, or limit of 1 hr a session,
basically just offerning dialup IP.
