At Oneonta, we just started to implement a fix that came to use from another
member of the listserv, Matt McClosky. Matt, you are the life saver.
Anyone else involved with working this one out with Matt...Thanks. To
summarize:
Matt's fix involved dial up networking. We have ssen the problem on our
ethernet ntwork, but htis fix holds for us as well.....
Type regedit in the Run box, and exportthe current registry to c:\ to back
it up. Go the the following path:
HKey Local Machine/System/Current Control Set/Services/Winsock 2
Hilight Winsock2 and delete the key. Exit the registry. Go to Add/remove
Programs in the control panel and delete Dial Up Networking. We rejected
the prompt to restart, and we removed TCP/IP for the ethernet adapter as
well. Then, we restarted. Upon restart, we re-installed Dial Up Networking
through the Add/remove Programs in the Control Panel, and restarted the
computer again.
On one of our machines, we had to manually re-install TCP/IP for the
ethernet adapter and restart again. For another one, the protocol was
re-installed after re-installing Dial-Up Networking. In both cases,
internet function returned.
Hope this helps you.
