We've seen this problem quite a bit over the years. One of my
second-level User Assistants wrote a couple of .REG files that can be
installed/run on student systems. One deletes all references to the
network protocols and clients; the other gets the Ethernet card, too.
Works like a charm and is a great tool for my RCCs.
I tried to attach the file to this message but the listserv rejects ZIP
files, which on net is a good thing (hey, it's only 1.3 Kb). Instead,
