Does anyone out there have a Powerbook (not the new 500 series ones)
connected to MITnet with the Asante EN/SC PB (SCSI to Ethernet)?
I've noticed an unacceptable amount of lag time typing characters in
telnet session (using MacIP). I type a command fairly quickly and I
don't see what I type until 5 seconds later at times. For things like
reading text and ftp, the performance is just fine.
This Powerbook does happen to be in MacGregor, but I've experienced
the "typing lag" problem when connected to machines within the dorm so
I suspect it's not due to the network problems that some residents
of MacGregor have been experiencing. The drop appears to be working
fine; I can ping and get responses successfully as I would expect
(very little packet loss to another MacGregor machine, and 10-20%
packet loss to other machines at MIT which others at MacGregor have
reported). Anyone know what could be causing the typing lag?
Thanks in advance,
Francis
