I am just wondering if anyone out there is investigating or has implemented
a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) system. We are looking at our current
system in regard to faculty laptops and a few faculty brought up the idea
of BYOD. Any information you can provide is greatly appreciated but here
are some specific questions as well:
Do they get a stipend? If so approximately how much and how often?
If they get a stipend are they obligated to use it or if they don't use it
they pocket it?
Are they able to purchase whatever they like or are they limited by some
pre-determined choices?
Are they obligated to purchase a warranty? If so, what level are they
obligated to purchase? (Years, ADP, etc)
What support, if any is given for these BYODs? (Hardware, Software,
Imaging, etc)
How is software licensing handled?
Do they get to keep the device or do they return it? If they leave? If it
is time for a new one?
Aside from faculty is BYOD used for Administrators and Staff? Any
difference with what is provided to Faculty?
