I am curious to see how schools who have WAP's that are dual radio (2.4 and
5GHz) capable have them configured for use.
We have Meru AP320i's, and currently broadcast the same SSID over both
radios and let the client determine which frequency they connect to. This
seems to work for some devices and not so well for other devices. In an effort
to combat the ever increasing interference problems we are seeing on the 2.4
band, I'm trying to find an effective way to force more onto 5Ghz.
We have been exploring two different options so far. One would be to utilize
Meru's bandsteering function and force all clients to the 5GHz that are capable.
The other would be to simply broadcast two different SSID's with one labeled
for 5GHz and allow the students to choose their destiny. What's everyone
else's take on this?
Thanks!
