Hey Keith,
Been there done that. The Xbox's for whatever reason see each access
point as a different network, thus it says multiple networks and refuses
to connect since it doesn't know which "One" is the right network even
tho they are all the same.(head scratch) Microsoft support was as
helpful as expected, "Change your network name". (Great idea for a large
wifi network)
Since our student network is wireless only and a hardline wasn't an
option, I found a few tricks to get the devices on. find an area that
you can unplug an access point or two, so that the xbox only sees "1"
access point and will connect. once it remembers that connection, I had
some success with the xbox then going into the dorms where it could see
3-5 access points and still connect since it remember its connection.
Another method was to do a restore factory defaults from the network
menu, and then continually "Spam" the connection setup and some students
were able to get connected. YMMV

Has anyone had trouble with Xboxes connecting to their wireless network
because there are “multiple networks with the same name?” All of our
ResNet APs use the same SSID of course but the Xbox, particularly the
“Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless N USB Networking Adapter,” can’t handle
that. The Googles suggest changing the SSID, but that isn’t an option
for us.
Thanks,
Keith Adams
