We're in an Exchange 2010 environment, actually Live @ Edu, and once an iPh=
one is setup, we rarely have someone come back for support. Also, the initi=
al setup is extremely easy, almost as easy as a Windows Phone 7 (wink, wink=
). I think that one important component is that we have auto-discovery whic=
h makes client issues, other than on BlackBerry, melt away. I'm not sure if=
iOS is using it.
Things to be aware of:
* You need good connectivity. 3G doesn't work well inside our build=
ings so we get authentication errors if we don't put the device on Wi-Fi be=
fore creating the email account.
* The server is sometimes picked up automatically and once in a whi=
le we need to add it manually. I addressed that in our brief setup instruct=
ions.
* If you've ever setup an iPad for Exchange, it's essentially the s=
ame.
* The initial synchronization can be somewhat slow and the user fee=
ls it isn't working. We ask them to be patient.
* When you get to the final screen where you choose what to sync, c=
alendar and contacts are off by default. Our organization uses both so we t=
urn them on.
* Some users don't understand when they have multiple inboxes so we=
've had to show them how Mail lets you switch between or blend them.
* I've had only one or two users with the wrong default calendar so=
they make new entries on the wrong server, like Google or Hotmail, and the=
n don't know why it doesn't show in their Exchange client on the computer. =
We've helped adjust the default calendar in Settings.
* "Room" calendars in Exchange can't be opened directly on the iPho=
ne. We've had to work out a system for turning on publishing at the server,=
convert the calendar to standard, generate a URL, convert it back to a roo=
m, and then email the URL to users. The iPhone doesn't make that cumbersome=
, it's more of an Exchange issue. Once you get the URL, the iPhone can pick=
it up easily but only in read-only mode.

I know we're a little late to the game here, but my company is just now all=
owing our employees the option of using a company provided iPhone instead o=
f a BlackBerry. For those of y'all that have done this before, what advice=
can you offer? What frequent problems or questions did you see from your =
users?
I'm also looking for information about the best ways to go about troublesho=
oting Active Sync issues.

the URL, the iPhone can pick it up easily but only in read-only mode.<o:p>=
