Doug,

In March at the Aruba Airheads Conference, Aruba announced a feature called Aruba AirGroup that, among other things, would allow you to use Apple TV with the Aruba wireless system. This feature is currently in the alpha testing phase. Your account rep can probably get you access to this. Here is their description.

Aruba AirGroupT is a unique enterprise-class capability that leverages zero-configuration networking (zeroconf) to enable services like AirPrint and AirPlay from mobile devices. What sets Aruba AirGroup apart from other mDNS approaches is its ability to distinguish between shared devices and personal devices. AirGroup goes a step further by employing location relevance, which only shows shared devices in close proximity to the user. This is achieved through Aruba context-aware technology, which identifies user roles, their devices and their locations. With Aruba AirGroup, the network traffic generated by these services is greatly minimized and the user experience is far more intuitive, taking into account contextual information to define what can be seen and accessed.

Their tech brief is at http://www.arubanetworks.com/pdf/technology/TB_AirGroupWLANServices.pdf

Subject: Apple TV in the classroom

We are being asked to make Apple TV work on our Aruba Wireless network. We have spend several days and read plenty of blogs regarding issues with ATV and corporate wireless. Is anyone out there actually using it in the classroom, on wireless for more than just a pilot? If so I would like to have a technical discussion on how you accomplished it. Thank you.

Doug
