Hello all ResNet=E2=80=99ers! Hope your Spring Breaks were productive and=
 that as your=20
school year winds up or down (depending on your viewpoint) that you=E2=80=
=99re not=20
swamped under a deluge of students needing something or other =E2=80=93 w=
ait, that=E2=80=99s=20
our normal status, isn=E2=80=99t it? We must love it, or something. . .=20=

Anyway, the ol=E2=80=99 countdown on the website=20
(www.resnetsymposium.org/resnet2012) says 10 weeks, 5 days before the=20
2012 Student Technology Conference here at The Claremont Colleges. Time,=20=

she=E2=80=99s a flyin=E2=80=99!

We=E2=80=99re working hard to provide you a beautiful venue and intriguin=
g activities!=20
You=E2=80=99re going to hear from me periodically, so I figured I=E2=80=99=
d give you a spotlight=20
on something each time. . . First time, I=E2=80=99m going to spotlight a =
PDS Seminar=20
(which is recursive, bonus points for spotting it. . .):

=46rom Santa Clara University, Wally Anderson is teaching a half-day semi=
nar=20
called Leading in Turbulent Times: Setting Up Employees for Success.=20

>With each passing year it seems that budgets and resources continue to=20=

>shrink, while the work required continues to increase. This poses a part=
icular=20
>challenge to the leader: Feeling overwhelmed and overworked, why would
>someone follow you? Attend this highly interactive workshop to discover=20=

>strategies to lead and inspire your team through times of change.=20
>http://www.resnetsymposium.org/resnet2012/pds/#leadership=20
>Sounds appropriate for today, yes? Sign up for it when you register for =
the=20

What else have we got going?

Well, for those of you who have never been to one of the conferences, we=20=

have a half-day where we do what I=E2=80=99m calling =E2=80=9CNetworking =
Activities=E2=80=9D =E2=80=93 an=20
opportunity for you to spend some good quality time with your peers, away=
=20
from sessions, away from pressures. . . Many people have said that this o=
ne=20
afternoon has been the highlight of their conference; that the people the=
y met=20
and the conversations they had while on the ferry around the San Juan Isl=
ands=20
(during the 2010 conference) changed their perspective and gave them idea=
s=20
to solve issues they didn=E2=80=99t even realize they had! Just an exampl=
e. . . Here=E2=80=99s=20
one of our organized activities this year (you can find all of them at=20=

http://www.resnetsymposium.org/resnet2012/conference-schedule/free-day-
activities/) :

>The Getty Museum is famous around the world for its art exhibits, its=20=

>architecture. . . A couple of our staff members who are very familiar wi=
th the=20
>Getty are going to escort you via a bus to the museum and let you wander=
=20
>the halls. I believe that there are exhibits featuring art works from th=
e reigns=20
>of Louis XIV, XV and XVI; =E2=80=9CPortraits of Renown: Photography and =
the Cult of=20
>Celebrity=E2=80=9D; as well as others. We=E2=80=99re hiring a bus so you=
 don=E2=80=99t have to worry=20
>about traffic (and it lets us use the carpool lane! Always a bonus.)=20

So there=E2=80=99s a couple of quick spotlights =E2=80=93 one PDS (did yo=
u spot the recursive=20
piece yet?) and one Free-Day/Networking Activity. Next time, who knows wh=
at=20
we=E2=80=99ll spotlight! You=E2=80=99ll just need to stay tuned!

REGISTER NOW!!!=20
