I couldn't get it to work either so I can't comment on the presentation, but I would love to see it.
I can tell you that a number of times over the past year, as recently as December 2011, our packet shaping devices failed and the DMCA violations came flooding in, so our experience does not support the theory that P2P is going away. We deny P2P due to the extra work involved in take down notices, as well as the bandwidth issues. Since we installed our packet shaping device we have been able to offer lots of bandwidth with little if any restriction and do not have to penalize anyone no matter how much they use. Given the continued growth of the use of the Internet in general, and especially video, the need for bandwidth is only going to continue to climb. Stopping P2P has also saved us lots of person hours tracking down DMCA violations. In addition I believe there is a law that says you have to make a reasonable attempt to put in measures to thwart copyright infringement along with education etc. I would add that DPI does not inspect content in any way. In most cases, it can!
 't because the P2P connections are encrypted.

If P2P is going away or greatly diminishing, then that is great news. I'm just not seeing it.

The Nanog media uses a plugin that wants me to restart in 32-bit mode,
so I've not viewed the presentation.

We're not concerned about the bandwidth consumption of P2P applications;
we're tired of all the **AA DMCA crap.

We just use a default-deny policy. Our practice is that those requesting
P2P access get it, no questions asked. If they become subject of a valid
DMCA complaint, such access is revoked again.
