Bond. James Bond. What's the first thing that comes to mind when you thin=
k of Agent 007? Ok, besides the Bond girls. Alright, besides the quarrels=
about which Bond was better. That's it! The GADGETS!
At the Student Technology Conference, we have a whole presentation theme ba=
sed around gadgets called "Cool Tools" dedicated to all the awesome gadgetr=
y we IT agents use in our fight for the greater good. Whether it is a litt=
le program for obliterating viruses, a USB dongle for capturing wireless is=
sues, or a new web app, we all have our arsenal of gadgets. And while some=
of us more relate to Agent Q than Bond himself, we still have an awesome w=
ay of showing them off. This year I would love to see presentations on:
* New antimalware tools and tactics
* How to use the MetaGeek AirPcap tools or Fluke Networks tools to =
improve your wireless network
* In-house developed tools that filled a need in your department
* Audio and video lecture capture devices
* Creative uses for open source packages
* Innovative support tools for distance education students
* Web tools for organizing, project managing, and harboring ideas
* And any other cool tool you have that I haven't thought of
So if you have a cool tool that you think other people would like to see, w=
rite up a proposal for a presentation and submit it by March 1st. If you a=
ren't sure if your idea is up to par with spy gadgetry, shoot me an email a=
nd I would be glad to help you spice up your idea or combine it with someon=
e else's. We could even take two similar tools and pit them against each o=
ther in an epic geek battle (Epic Gadget Battles of History?)
Bond movies usually end with a gratuitous adult scene, but I'll spare you t=
hat in this email. See you in June!
