The datasheet for the X250e includes:

> EN 55024:A2-2003 Class A includes IEC 61000-4-2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 11

It also says

> IEC/EN 61000-4-2:2001 Electrostatic Discharge, 8kV Contact, 15 kV Air, Criteria A

So your switch should be hardened against static discharge.

Your older switch, well, I don't see its data sheet on line. But
maybe you've got one and can check.

If you're RMAing the switches, does that mean you have maintenance?
If yes, on a repeated problem like this you should be able to ask
their repair depot for some failure analysis.
