Hi all,

A printing consultant was showing me a demo of their 'wireless ipp
printing solution' as a solution for students wanting to print through
our Equitrac printing system from their personal machines.... this is
instead of us having to pay for an Equitrac client license for them to
print to our MFPs. The client they used was nice in that the student
just entered their domain credentials, selected a printer and a document
and away it went. I went searching to replicate this on my own and it
looks like there is an IPP client built in Windows 7 (which is enabled
on my laptop) and I have the Internet Printing server role installed on
our Windows 2008 printing server but for some reason I can't seem to
connect from my client to the printing server (the UNC path works fine
but student machines are not in the domain so that's why I'm looking at
IPP). On the client I select "add printer" then selected "network
printer" and I have tried the following...

http://<fully_qualified_server_name>/printers/<queue_name>
http://<fully_qualified_server_name>/printers/<queue_name>/.printer

and I have tried several queues. I know TCP port 80 is open on the
server's firewall because I can log in through a browser at
http://<fully_qualified_server_name>/printers

Am I missing something? Here is the error message I get

"Windows couldn't connect to the printer. Check the printer name and try
again. If this is a network printer, make sure that the printer is
turned on, and that the printer address is correct."

If there is a better way to be doing this (some other IPP client that
supports PCs and Macs)?

Thanks!
