Hi,
These questions were aimed at a "jack of all trades" type help desk positio=
n
we have on the books. It has been a good way to make a first cut for us...
1. Describe the differences between Plain Text and HTML e-mail and the
associated advantages and disadvantages.
2. What role does the registry play in Windows?
3. Imagine you are working at the Help Desk and receive a call from a
client stating =93My Internet is broken=94. Pretend I am the client, and=
help me
troubleshoot the issue.
4. How would you deal with a forgotten BIOS password?
5. Describe the differences between IMAP and POP e-mail and the
associated advantages and disadvantages.
6. What is a foreign key and how could it be used?
7. Help the search committee understand the depth and detail of your
technical knowledge by explaining to us what happens behind the scenes w=
hen
you type www.google.com into a web browser.
8. Describe public / private key encryption and what you might use it
for.
9. What is the difference between TCP and UDP. When / why to use one or
the other?
10. Please explain the similarities and differences between hubs,
switches, and routers.
