At Millsaps College all ITS student employees have name badges from Helpdesk, Lab Assistants, ResNet, Multimedia etc. They are identical to ITS FTE name tags with The College design standard as the logo, name and Information Technology. It does help with interaction across campus and my students like being a part officially. I think it's been about 5 years now for us.

At Tech our students have been wearing badges for about three years. My students never went into faculty offices, but they did go into the residence halls. This was a means of identifying them as being someone that should have been there and what their purpose was in the residence hall. Actually all the res hall staff have to wear name badges. The Resnet badges looked completely different, but they did have the students photo and our resnet logo on them.

One of my techs just brought me an interesting idea: name tags for student employees, so customers can easily identify who is assisting them. I have no real intention of implementing this (…yet?), but I am curious if any of you have your student employees wear name tags, and if you believe it helps with customer interactions.
