Just wanted to plug the EDUCause Wireless-LAN list.
Participation and subscription information for this EDUCAUSE Constituent
Group discussion list can be found at http://www.educause.edu/groups/.
Lots of schools doing wireless on that list.
My advise to you is to decide on a single vendor, as it makes
troubleshooting for your techs easier.
As for the actual design, the vendor you choose usually has a list of
resellers/VARs that can provide site survey / Professional services, if the
vendor does not offer it themselves.
If you feel Adventurous, you can purchase Site Survey software, and do the
design yourself for around 3000-4000 dollars (Ekahau is a popular choice).
However, this choice puts the design totally on you, and wireless design
does require some experience.
In the past, I hired a company to do a survey of one floor of one building,
watched them like a hawk, and had them explain they're practice to me. (We
had a very good working relationship with the company, and had purchased
many things from them)
