Hi John - at Duke we have 10 iPads in our loaner pool. They are very popula=
r. We use the Library's circulation system and do a reset on the iPad when =
it comes back (though we don't promise a reset, we try and get people to re=
member to do it themselves before they turn stuff in so they are responsibl=
e for their own data.) Folks can buy apps for the iPad but they lose them w=
hen it comes back and have to turn it in.
So far our biggest complaint has been demand and the small size of the equi=
pment pool. We haven't had much complaint about the lack of apps per se - p=
eople are content to explore on their own. Our instructional technology dep=
artment has a separate pool that they circulate to faculty that they have d=
one more work with apps on - Evernote, presentation tools, things like that=
.
