We support anything that has a browser on it. I believe that wii is the on=
ly gaming system that does have a browser. If they can register their con=
nection with the student ID and pin #, it will work on our wireless.

One thing to be aware of is that the number of connected devices may triple=
, unless that is, you already allow wireless routers in your buildings. We=
believe the number of connected devices is negatively affecting our availa=
ble bandwidth.

I saw an ad from Dell on this. I guess MS$ really wants to stop the tren=
d of consumer Apple purchases. We will see if what Apple has for their b=
ack to school deal this summer to compete. I hope they will give away an =
iPad. ;)

BTW, since my residence halls will be all wireless in the fall. I am tr=
ying to find out if any of you support wii on a 802.1x wireless network? =
If you do, how do you get it to work? If not, how do you support it on t=
he network then?

Thanks in advance,
Wendy

Microsoft announced yesterday via the Windows Blog<http://windowsteamblog.c=
om/windows/b/windowsexperience/archive/2011/05/12/students-we-ve-got-you-co=
vered.aspx> that it would be offering eligible high school and college stud=
ents a free 4GB Xbox 360 with the purchase of a $699+ Windows 7 PC from par=
ticipating retailers.

The offer starts on May 22, and Microsoft claims that "you can buy any kind=
of PC, although we recommend a few specifically for students." The company=
 also offers a "PC Scout<http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pc-scout/student.=
aspx?cbid=3Dstudent#tour>" app on Windows.com as a means of helping custome=
rs find an appropriate machine for them.

Customers with .edu email addresses can purchase online, while other eligib=
le students simply need to walk into a participating retailer with their st=
udent ID and pick the machine they want -- so long as it's over $699, they'=
ll be able to claim their free Xbox 360.
