We have not used Facebook, but do use Twitter - (
http://www.twitter.com/GWUSTS). I can't say we use it extremely often, but
we like it to get information out and use it to let people know about
service issues.

1. Did you have issues getting the account up and running?

None whatsoever. I did run it by our central IT communications guru first
for approval.

2. Have you continued to use it?

Yes. Though somewhat off and on as we see issues or think we could reach
someone

3. How have you dealt with =93You guys/my network/this school is
terrible/sucks/etc=94 messages posted to Facebook or Twitter?

We see them constantly and ignore them. In some cases we see folks who seem
to have real problems "Gosh, I'm right in the middle of this paper and
GWireless keeps dropping". In those cases we might tweet 'at' them and say
"Hey, see you're having problems, stop by the basement in the library and w=
e
can help!"

4. What sort of information have you put out there?

Mostly outages, information about new services, where to get help, little
security tips.

5. <This space reserved for anything else you may think of>
The best thing I've found is to set up TweetDeck with a bunch of columns
that are custom searches. This lets you start tracking issues, service
launches, and just raw feelings about an issue. For example, we do like "GW=
U
wireless" "GWU technology" "GWU STS" "GWU resnet" "gwu cable" and the like.
