Hi Everyone -

Just a reminder that early-bird registration will be ending in less than a
week - so if you haven't yet registered for the 2011 Student Technology
Conference you will want to do so soon! As always, if you're having any
problems, questions, or need any assistance, please feel free to contact us
at host@resnetsymposium.org and we'll be happy to help.

And now, for our first installment of the Student Technology Conference New=
s
(also available at http://resnetsymposium.org/resnet2011).
--

The snow has melted and the trees are beginning to bloom, which can only
mean that summer is near! As we continue to prep for the Student Technology
Conference, we will publish weekly updates, highlighting the conference, an=
d
the sites and sounds of Yale and New Haven. We are all happily awaiting Jun=
e
and hope you=92re excited too!
Housing at Yale: Silliman College

Yale=92s undergraduate housing is not like your typical college dorms.
Incoming students are assigned to one of twelve (soon to be 14) residential
colleges, each of which houses 350-450 students. The residential college
system is designed to create smaller, tight-knit communities within the
larger university. Each college contains a dining hall, library, fitness
center, and common room, as well as other specialized spaces like music
practice rooms and art galleries.

ResNet attendees who opt for on-campus housing will be staying in the
largest college, Silliman. Silliman opened as a residential college in 1940=
,
and was renovated in 2007. Its facilities include a late-night eatery and
game room, spacious and courtyard, indoor basketball court, and wood-panele=
d
dining hall. All of these spaces will be open so you can relax during down
time and network with your fellow attendees.

Like many other buildings around Yale and New Haven, Silliman has appeared
on the big screen. Mona Lisa Smile was partly filmed in the Silliman
courtyard, as well as Sterling Memorial Library. A scene from Indiana Jones
and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was filmed right outside the Silliman
gate on College St. Did you know=85?

Noah Webster, class of 1778 and father of the dictionary, built his own
house on Temple St. near Wall St, where Silliman College currently stands.
