Other than that, we do support them from the stand-point of getting them on the wireless network, configuring VPN & email and basic how-to's. Those that want a 3G model and want to add it to the University account, we order them for the user but is then property of the university and if the person leaves, they need to return it or make arrangements with their department/lab if they want to keep it - same as for cell phones.
We are looking into how to centrally manage them as far as pushing out apps and documents, configurations and iOS updates. This is a work in progress.

We do something similar but it's geared toward iPads & iPhones and how our users use them and to share useful apps. We do this about on a quarterly basis or so and we've had our Apple account come to one of them to answer questions and show off the apps he uses and recommends.

I am organizing "ipad parties" this semester to find out how many faculty/staff have them (and android devices etc.) and what they are using them for, what they want to use them for and what some of the issues are. All are invited to come including those that do not have anything yet and are looking to buy something. I will have ipads, ipod touch, android galaxy tablet, kindle, nook etc there and encouraging others to bring what they have and discuss the devices.
